In response to the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Morganton City Council approved a contract for post-storm cleanup and restoration at various parks, receiving a cash advance from their insurance carrier for storm-related expenses.

The Council also allocated funds for water, wastewater, and general expenses, as well as approved a budget amendment for electric distribution system restoration.

In addition, they agreed to contract for additional design work on the Silver Creek Pump station project, which will be eligible for FEMA reimbursement.

On a separate note, a loan agreement was established with President Wai Cheng of Yum Morganton, Inc. for The Madness Sushi, Burger & Bar, a new restaurant opening in downtown Morganton with support from a Community Development Block Grant.
