Rev. Bill Roberts bids farewell to Valdese as he transitions to his next chapter in Forest City, leaving behind a legacy of support and comfort for the community and the Valdese Police Department.
Chief Marc Sharpe has been leading the Valdese Police Department since March 2024, overseeing significant growth and initiatives. Under his leadership, the department has implemented programs such as the Chaplain’s Program, designed to provide support to officers through critical incidents. The Homeless Task Force focuses on helping individuals in need through rehabilitation services and resource connections.
Additionally, the department is active in addressing trespassing issues and expanding neighborhood watch programs. Internal changes, including policy updates and morale-boosting efforts, have improved the overall functioning of the department.
The Chaplain’s Program in Valdese is in its ice-breaking phase, with Valdese officers and seven chaplains creating an open space for discussion and support.Â
The multi-denominational program offers various services such as providing hot meals, lending a listening ear, and giving advice to the police department.Â
