AMOREM, the nonprofit hospice and palliative care provider rooted in Burke County, is marking five years under its current name after serving thousands of patients and families while expanding grief support, volunteers and enhanced end-of-life services.
AMOREM will host a Good Grief Meal March 6 in Morganton and a free advance care planning workshop March 12 in Lenoir, offering Burke County residents support, advance directives guidance and grief counseling resources.
AMOREM reaffirmed its commitment to ethical hospice care as federal agencies expand fraud investigations nationwide. The nonprofit serving Burke County highlighted its CHAP accreditation, Medicare compliance and internal safeguards to ensure transparency, accountability and high-quality patient care.
Amorem staff collected 667 canned food items in January during a multi-campus food drive. Donations were distributed to Burke United Christian Ministries in Morganton, Yokefellow in Lenoir and Hospitality House in Boone, the nonprofit said.
AMOREM is raising the final $1.6 million of an $8.1 million campaign to open an inpatient hospice unit in the High Country. A $250,000 matching challenge is available. Patients now travel to Burke or Caldwell for inpatient care.
