On Valentine's Day, City Manager Sally Sandy and City Attorney Keith Rigsbee announced the resolution of pending litigation with Bella Vino owner Emanuel Manolakas. The lawsuits against five city officials were dismissed as part of a settlement agreement negotiated by the N.C. League of Municipalities. The City paid $1.1 million to Manolakas, satisfying the judgment, and regained possession of the City-owned building at 112 W. Union. Future plans for the property are yet to be determined as it remains an important economic asset.
