In spite of all the destruction we have faced, the Valdese community is extremely fortunate to have escaped the devastation that took place in so many of our neighboring communities.
The proposed multi-million dollar Valdese-Lenoir water project is making progress, with a planned interconnection between the City of Lenoir and the Town of Valdese through a 20-inch water transmission main under Lake Rhodhiss.
Slated for 2026-2027, the project is currently in the design phase led by municipal consulting firm McGill & Associates. Both towns have received funding to upgrade facilities and construct the transmission line, ensuring a backup plan and increased redundancy in case of emergencies.Â
