The Salem High School Class of 1957 met at Timberwoods Family Restaurant on Saturday, May 23. Salem High reunion

Valdese High School freshman class officers (from left) Allen Childers, Paul Hastings, and Dickie Brown returned to the site of the old school 64 years after posing for the 1962 yearbook, The Impersonator. Childers was class president, Hastings vice president, and Brown secretary-treasurer. All three were football standouts. Childers and Brown are retired, while Hastings is a renowned Charlotte artist. Black-and-white gave way to color, but the assignment apparently remains unfinished.

Issac E. “Buddy” Fisher, of Morganton, was surrounded by family when he departed this life on Thursday, May 28, 2026 — five days before his 76th birthday.
Buddy Fisher
Born in Rutherford County, on June 2, 1950, Buddy was the son of the late Claude Harlon Fisher and Lillie Mae Jones Fisher.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his son, Barry Fisher; brothers, Lawrence, Paul, Henry, and Charles Fisher; and sisters, Beatrice Webb, Hazel McNeely, and Mary Ann Morrow.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Daleleen Herron Fisher; son, Elijah Fisher; stepson, Jason Dobson; granddaughters, Elizabeth Fisher and Emily Fisher; great-grandson, PeterBarrett Fisher-Gucwa; brother, Steve Fisher and wife, Judy; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Buddy was a devoted part of his community and served as a life member of the Morganton Elk’s Lodge, Silver Creek Baptist Church, Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217, and sat on numerous community action boards throughout his life. He was a passionate entrepreneur and real estate developer, dabbling in various enterprises, largest of which was his company Triangle Contractors Inc., which he owned and operated for 43 years.
A gathering of friends and celebration of Buddy’s life was held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Silver Creek Golf Club, 4241 Plantation Drive, Morganton. A private family funeral was held Wednesday, June 3, at Silver Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Buchanan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
