The Freedom High School football field sits under flood water
from Hurricane Helene on Friday, Sept. 27. The water had subsided
by early Sunday morning, athletic director Rob Scott said, but none
of Burke County’s high school or middle school fall sports teams
will have games from Sept. 26 through at least this coming
Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the aftermath of the storm.
