PETS OF THE WEEK
Cats' Cradle: Sammy
Sammy
FOR THE PAPER
Pictured here inside a cage, Sammy is an older kitten with a gentle soul and a whole lot of love to give. This very tall, handsome boy adores people, gets along wonderfully with other cats, and is great with kids, too.
Sammy is sweet, affectionate, and happiest when he’s near humans who will pet him, talk to him, and make him feel safe. All he wants is a loving home where he can finally stretch out, relax, and be cherished the way he deserves.
If you’re looking for a kind, friendly companion who will return your love tenfold, Sammy is waiting just for you. Please text Kathy at 828-499-0989 for more information on him.
Starting Feb. 14, you can meet some of our cats and kittens in person at The Mews Herald at 301 Collett St., Morganton. If you see a cat posted in The Paper/Facebook/Petfinder and you would like to meet them, email info@thecatscradle.org to arrange a meetup at The Mews Herald. Seeing these sweet cats in person will win you over.

Burke Animal Resource Center: Onyx
Onyx
FOR THE PAPER
Meet Onyx, a beautiful 1-year-old spayed German shepherd who came to the shelter on Dec. 9 with her sister, who has already found her forever home. Now it’s Onyx’s turn!
She may take a little time to warm up in new situations, but once she does, she’s incredibly sweet, loyal, and affectionate. Onyx does well with other dogs and would love a canine friend, but she’s not a fan of cats. She’s looking for a patient, loving home that will give her the time she needs to shine.
Burke Animal Resource Center is at 425 Kirksey Drive, Morganton. The shelter is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The phone number is 828-764-9588.
All dog and puppy adoptions are $40; cat and kitten adoptions are $20. All adoptions include spay/neuter, a one-year rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), standard core preventative vaccines, a monthly flea preventative, and dewormer as needed.
