Meet Jake, a true survivor with a heart full of love. Little Jake was rescued as a tiny baby from a devastating brush fire, arriving with severe burns but an unbreakable spirit. Too young to survive without a mother, he was placed with a foster family that had a nursing mama cat ready to welcome him.
Thanks to dedicated veterinary care and the tender love of his foster mom, Jake has not only survived but absolutely thrived. We know he would do best going into a home with other young cats for him to play with or, even better, get adopted with his foster sister Lara who shared her mom with him. She is a beautiful calico girl.

Miles: This lovable guy is ready for his forever home! He is 4 months old and neutered. He does great around other animals and loves to cuddle! He can be a bit shy at first but warms up very quickly. Come meet him and his sister. They are ready to meet you.
Burke Animal Services is at 425 Kirksey Drive, Morganton. The shelter is closed on Sundays and Mondays, and open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The phone number is 828-764-9588.
All cat and kitten adoptions are $20; dog and puppy adoptions are $40. All adoptions include spay/neuter, a one-year rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), standard core preventative vaccines, a monthly flea preventative, and dewormer as needed.
