Do not listen to what Trump says, watch what he does
President Donald Trump in the midst of his one hour and 48
minute State of the Union Address.
FOR THE PAPER
TO THE EDITOR:
Let’s review the actions in the last year by President Donald Trump and see what he has done for the average citizen.
On the first day he disbanded the Consumer Protection Bureau which helped protect us from being taken advantage by big business.
He fired Special Counsels in the government agencies which were specially appointed persons to root out waste and corruption in each agency.
He disbanded the White House ethics department which advises the President if his actions are ethical or not, such as conflicts of interest.
He has started to disband the Education Department.
He cancelled food aid to foreign countries that help starving children.
He slashed funds for the federal agency dedicated to funding library services.
He wants to cut at least 47 agencies that do not help the billionaire but help the less fortunate.
He put his name on the independent Peace agency building which was illegal.
He put his name on the Kennedy Center which is a memorial to President Kennedy and was also illegal.
He tore down the East Wing of the White House.
Now he wants to do a major renovation of the Kennedy Center after he is closing it because people are not performing or attending the Center to make it worthwhile.
He imposed illegal tariffs, which are taxes, on most goods coming into the country, paid for by American businesses and passed on to the buyer.
Hard to believe? Do not listen to what Trump says, watch what he does.
In his first term, after he signed his first tax cut in December 2017, when talking to his billionaire buddies at an exclusive club Trump was quoted saying, “You all just got a lot richer today.” He could not say the same for the working man or woman.
In his first term he said cryptocurrency was bad until he discovered he could make money from it and changed his mind in the second term. His family launched World Liberty Financial which raises money by selling its digital tokens to investors. Their stake in it is worth billions of dollars.
In October of 2025 the Department of Justice disbanded its task force focused on crypto crimes.
During his presidency Trump has increased his net worth by billions of dollars, which reeks of conflict of interest.
How has your bank account grown during his presidency?
Don’t like what you see? Don’t let Trump and his backers continue policies that help him and hurt us. VOTE SMART for better government.

Letter to the Editor
TO THE EDITOR:
The comic strips “Peanuts” was created by the late Charles Schultz. One of his characters was named Linus. Linus was always dragging around a blanket in one hand.
Recently Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem lost her special blanket. When she couldn’t find her precious blanky she blamed the pilot of the plane that flew her and her entourage from one destination to another.
Kristi Noem
FOR THE PAPER
Ms. Noem fired the pilot but realizing that the pilot was the only person that could fly the plane, she rehired him.
I’m not sure if Ms. Noem ever recovered her precious blanky, but I would bet a lot of money that Linus never lost his blanket.
