Easter Bunny makes early visit to Morganton Rotary pancake breakfast
The March 28 Rotary Pancake Breakfast featured eggs, bacon,
sausage, and of course, pancakes.

The Rotary Club of Morganton hosted its 63rd annual pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 28.
People of all ages came out to the Morganton Community House to support the club’s programs. The Easter Bunny arrived in town a week early to visit with the children, and everyone enjoyed the sounds of the Ukulele Band of Morganton. And, for the first time, livermush was added to the breakfast bar.

A crowd came out to the Burke Arts Council on Friday, March 27, to kick off the Woodworkers Exhibition 2026, which continues through April 25. The wood masterpieces range from chairs to dressers and tables from students of the Professional Crafts Wood Program at Western Piedmont Community College.
John Ferguson leads the Professional Crafts Wood Program. The program offers an associate’s degree in professional crafts wood as well as certificates in furniture design and construction. Students are provided with a range of opportunities to design and build their own piece of furniture. Learn more at www.wpcc.edu.
The exhibition is sponsored by Klingspor Woodworking Shop of Hickory. The Burke Arts Council is at 506 S. Sterling St., Morganton.

The popular David Wiseman Band brought its energetic and entertaining Appalachian-style acoustic music to a packed house at Thornwell Books recently.
The band is known for blending traditional bluegrass with touches of country and beloved old-time classics, the kind of songs that have been carried along porches, barn doors, and back roads for generations.
David Wiseman is recognized as a well-versed bluegrass musician and instrumentalist, and he has performed in traditional music settings throughout Western North Carolina. It’s the kind of music that makes you text someone and say, “Get over here.”
