Crosstown rivals collide on diamond

Crosstown rivals Freedom and Patton high schools clashed in a softball contest Wednesday afternoon at Freedom Park.

The Lady Panthers never trailed after scoring five runs in the top of the second inning, adding four or more runs in both of the final two frames to win, 16-9, and improve to 3-2 for the season. Freedom dropped to 2-4 with the loss.

Kara Redwine led Patton at the plate with three doubles and five RBIs, and Hailey Snodgrass posted a four-hit day. Lani Campbell paced Freedom offensively, going 3 for 3 with a double, home run, three runs and three RBIs.
