Morganton Media Group, LLC (MMG, dba The Paper) was founded in August 2022 to meet the escalating demand in greater Burke County for a singular and reliable local source of accountable, readable and relevant community, and community only, news. It will fill the void from the steadfast decline in local coverage and commitment from the 100-year-old local newspaper at the direction of its current owner headquartered in Iowa. To fill this News Desert, MMG will launch on Feb 4, 2023 a weekly broadsheet newspaper titled, The Paper, and an online version, ThePaper.media.
